The Fourteenth International Butler Rally in Kilkenny

CHARGES FOR ATTENDANCE AT THE BUTLER RALLY 2006

The following are charges in Euro for the Rally in addition to the Registration Fee (non-returnable) of €50.  The All-Inclusive rate is € 315.

Participants for one day are not required to pay the registration fee.

Online Payments:

You may pay using credit cards via paypal by clicking the link "Butler Rally 2006 Payments" below.  You will be taken to a PayPal payments page.  If not already registered, you will be required to register with PayPal, including entry of address and card details. 

You will enter the total amount to be charged to your credit card yourself.  It is important that you detail the number of people and the events for which you are paying.  Please also identify yourself clearly by name and address so that there is no confusion among lots of "Butlers" about who paid!

8. p.m Registration and Welcome Kilkenny Castle wine party in the ParadeTower.

Wednesday 23^rd August

10 a.m. Official opening of the Rally and welcome by the Mayor Tour of Castle.

Triennial General Meeting of the Butler Society

Lunch in Kilkenny

Talk in the Castle on DNA by William Hughes of the Butler Surname DNA Project

5.30 Leave by coach for a glass of wine with Dr and Mrs Crampton at Maidenhall, the home of the late Hubert Butler who was one of the founders of the Society

8.30 An evening of Irish music and dancing in the Club House Hotel.

Thursday 24^th August

9.30 a.m. Visit to Ballylinch stud at Mt Juiliet. The beautiful house and grounds of Mount Juliet used to be the home of the Carrick Butlers

Lunch with Lord and LadyRathdonnellat Lisnavagh, Rathvilly,

Co. Carlow (Numbers have to be limited, but arrangements wil

be made for others to have lunch in a private house)

Glass of wine with Mr and Mrs Cope at Shankill Castle,

Friday 25^th August,

Tour of Wexford - Visit the Dunbrody , the replica of a ship that took many of our ancestors to the New World. A cup of coffee with the Countess Bernstorff

See the remarkable Ross tapestries.

Picnic lunch at Johnstown Castle and a visit to Butlerstown Castle -a tower house. We will have tea with Mrs Helen Skrine

Saturday 26^th August

Genealogical forum In Butler House

Tour of the medieval walls of Kilkenny with the archaeologist, Ben Murtagh.

8 p.m. Society dinner in the South Tower of Kilkenny Castle. (Numbers are limited)

Sunday 27th August

1. Combined church services in St Canice’s Cathedral

· Buffet lunch in Kilkenny Castle.
